Growing mushrooms on wood – with our 8×50 mm inoculation plugs

Do you have logs left over that you don’t need for heating this winter? Why not use them to grow delicious mushrooms?

With our 8×50 mm inoculation plugs, growing mushrooms on logs is easy – the only thing you really need is patience. Because as we know: Good mushrooms take time.

The best types of wood are resin-free deciduous or hardwoodssuch as oak, beech, birch, and maple. Resinous softwoods(e.g., spruce, pine), on the other hand, are not suitablebecause the resin inhibits mushroom growth. In suitable hardwood, the mycelium grows through the log slowly and evenly – providing you with fresh mushrooms for several years.

The plugs are colonized with living mushroom mycelium and are ready for immediate use: simply drill holes into the log, tap in the plugs, and seal them. You can find detailed step-by-step instructions in our guides.

What's included:100 beech wood plugs colonized with mycelium, size 8×50 mm.
Mushroom species:selectable via the dropdown menu (e.g., shiitake or oyster mushroom).

Safety information Safety notice: fungal spores (respiratory tract)
Mature mushrooms release spores. Inhaling larger amounts of spores can irritate the airways and lungs and, with repeated exposure, trigger allergic reactions up to extrinsic allergic alveolitis ("mushroom worker's lung").
• Let them fruit in well-ventilated rooms; do not set them up in bedrooms or rooms where people spend long periods.
• Harvest mushrooms shortly before they release their spores, to reduce the spore load.
• Sensitive or allergic people, people with pre-existing conditions and anyone with continuous exposure: wear respiratory protection (FFP2/FFP3).
• Never eat contaminated or mouldy cultures; dispose of the bag closed, without stirring up or inhaling spores.

Right of withdrawal Right of withdrawal: 14 days, as described in § 6 of the GTC.
