How we work

Every bag has a batch number.

Before a bag goes out to you, we have measured its mix, sterilised it in the autoclave and given it a batch number. So for every bag we know when and how it was made.

In four steps

From mixing to shipping

  1. Mix and measure

Moisture in % · pH value

Every mix of grain or wood substrate is made as its own batch. Before it goes into the bags, we measure its moisture in percent and its pH value. If a batch is off, we correct it. That way you always get the same quality.

  2. Sterilise in the autoclave

    150–210 minutes at 15 psi

Then the bags go into the autoclave: 150 to 210 minutes at 15 psi overpressure (about 121 °C), depending on whether it's grain or hardwood. Steam and pressure kill the germs that would otherwise compete with your mycelium for the substrate.

  3. Assign a batch number

    Every bag traceable

Every batch gets a number. With it, each bag can be traced back: when it was mixed and autoclaved, at what moisture and what pH value.

  4. Ship fresh

    No old stock

The batch date tells us how old a bag is. So you get fresh bags, not ones that have sat around for weeks and lost moisture.

Questions about your bag?

Write to us, ideally with a photo; we usually reply on the same working day. And if an All-in-One does arrive non-sterile, our sterility promise applies.
