Everything we sell is created in our production facility in Erlangen, from the substrate to the finished mushroom.
Substrate and sterilization
Our mushrooms grow in grow bags: filter bags containing a defined substrate mixture. The filter allows gases to pass through while keeping germs out. Before inoculation, each bag is autoclaved: under pressure and heat, until nothing living remains inside.
Inoculation and incubation
Then the mycelium, the root system of the mushroom, is added. The bags are stored in a warm, dark, and enclosed space at 20 to 25 °C. Light is deliberately avoided during this phase.
Depending on the species, incubation takes 2 to 12 weeks. The color, smell, and consistency of the substrate tell us whether everything is in balance.
Fruiting
Once the substrate is fully colonized, the bags are moved to the grow house, a climate-controlled room where temperature, humidity, and CO₂ are specifically adjusted to encourage the mushrooms to sprout.
Why made to order
We only autoclave substrates and grain spawn once an order is placed. This requires one to two business days of processing time. In return, nothing sits in storage for weeks, where every day increases the risk of contamination.
