Liquid culture jars 2×700 ml sterile (Luer-Lock)
2× 700 ml jars each with 400 ml of sterile liquid culture nutrient solution • Sterile nutrient solution • Self-healing injection port (Luer-Lock) • Air filter in lid • Magnetic stir bar optional • Delivered autoclaved • Ready for immediate use
What is liquid culture – and why do you need it?
Liquid culture (LC) is a sterile nutrient solution in which mushroom mycelium can grow and be propagated in liquid form. Instead of scraping an agar plate or using spores directly, you inject a small piece of mycelium or a spore sample into the nutrient solution – the mycelium multiplies within it and can subsequently be injected directly into grain spawn or substrate using a syringe. The advantage: faster colonization, more uniform distribution, and a lower risk of contamination during inoculation (provided that work is performed under sterile conditions – see notes below).
Why jars with an injection port and magnetic stir bar?
Self-healing injection port (Luer-Lock)
The lid features a self-healing injection port with a standardized Luer-Lock connection. It allows for sterile inoculation and extraction via syringe without having to open the jar – this keeps every extraction lower in contamination risk when working cleanly. "Premium lid" and "Luer-Lock" refer to the same lid.
p>Magnetic stir bar (optional)
If you select "2 pieces" above, one magnetic stir bar will be included per jar. It is used with a magnetic stirrer (not included) to distribute the mycelium evenly in the solution and prevent clumping. The result: a more homogeneous culture and more uniform inoculation.
Application – how liquid culture works
1. Inoculation: Inject a mycelium sample or spore solution through the injection port. The jar remains closed.
2. Incubation: Store at room temperature (approx. 22–25 °C). Mix regularly on the magnetic stirrer. The mycelium multiplies in the nutrient solution.
3. Extraction: Extract the liquid culture with a sterile syringe through the injection port and inject it directly into grain spawn or substrate.
Prepared sterile – ready for immediate use
The 700 ml jars are filled with 400 ml of sterile nutrient solution each and delivered autoclaved. The lid is equipped with a self-healing injection port (Luer-Lock) and an air filter. You only need to inoculate the jars with your mushroom culture – no preparation or sterilization of your own necessary.
Suitable for the cultivation of edible mushrooms, for example oyster mushrooms, shiitake, Lion's Mane (Hericium erinaceus), king trumpet mushrooms, reishi, pioppino (black poplar mushroom), nameko, and many more.
What's included:
2 × 700 ml jars each with 400 ml of sterile nutrient solution, lids with self-healing injection port (Luer-Lock) and air filter, magnetic stir bar of your choice (magnetic stirrer not included).
Delivery time Freshly autoclaved to order · 1–2 business days processing, then dispatch
Safety information
Autoclavable: Only sterilize using suitable pressure equipment and according to the manufacturer's instructions. Risk of scalding from steam and hot liquid.
Instructions for use and hygiene (liquid culture)
Liquid culture is the most contamination-prone link in mushroom cultivation: in the nutrient-rich solution, bacteria and mold also multiply rapidly if work is performed unsterilly. Always work strictly sterile (clean work surface, disinfected hands/equipment, inoculate in front of a flame or in a Still-Air-Box) and open the inoculation port only via a sterile syringe, without opening the jar. A cloudy, stringy, discolored, or unpleasant/sour-smelling liquid culture is contaminated: do not use, do not inject into substrate, do not consume – dispose of the jar closed. Magnetic stirrer safety: operate the device on a stable surface, do not overfill jars, observe the manufacturer's instructions for the stirring device.
Right of withdrawal Sealed goods for hygiene reasons: The right of withdrawal expires once the seal has been removed or the injection port has been opened (Section 312g (2) No. 3 of the German Civil Code (BGB)). Details can be found in Section 6 of the General Terms and Conditions.
