The single bag to get started

A bag with 2 kg of sterile wheat for your first grain spawn attempt. Ideal for learning the technique, trying out a mushroom species, or inoculating a small fruiting batch – without a bulk order.

What you get

2 kg of optimally hydrated wheat in an autoclaved bag with a 0.2 µm microfilter and a self-healing injection port. Ready to use right away.

Suitable for

All common cultivated mushrooms: Oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus), Shiitake (Lentinula edodes), Lion's Mane (Hericium erinaceus), King Trumpet (Pleurotus eryngii), Pioppino (Cyclocybe aegerita, syn. Agrocybe aegerita), Pink Oyster mushroom (Pleurotus djamor).

How to use it

1. Inoculation: Inject 3–5 ml of liquid culture through the injection port.
2. Colonization (10–14 days): Store in a dark place at 22–25 °C.
3. Shake/knead: Once ~50% colonized, distribute the grains.
4. Fully colonized once evenly white.
5. Further use: For inoculating fruiting substrate (e.g., Master's Mix, CVG, straw).

Good to know

Inoculum (liquid culture/culture) is not included and must be purchased separately. Can be stored refrigerated for up to 4 weeks. Shipped from Erlangen, 2–3 business days lead time.

Delivery time Freshly autoclaved to order · 1–2 business days processing, then dispatch

Safety information Safety notice – Fungal spores (respiratory tract)
Mature mushrooms release spores. Inhaling large amounts of spores can irritate the respiratory tract and lungs, and repeated exposure can trigger allergic reactions, including extrinsic allergic alveolitis ("Mushroom Worker's Lung").
• Fruit in well-ventilated rooms; do not place in bedrooms or rooms where people spend long periods of time.
• Harvest mushrooms just before they release their spores to reduce spore load.
• Sensitive or allergic individuals, those with pre-existing conditions, and those with prolonged exposure should wear respiratory protection (FFP2/FFP3).
• Never consume contaminated or moldy cultures; dispose of the bag while closed and avoid stirring up or inhaling spores.

Instructions for use and hygiene
Inoculate the substrate under as sterile conditions as possible (clean work surface, disinfected hands/tools) and only open the inoculation port immediately before use. If the bag shows green, black, or otherwise discolored growth, a sour/putrid odor, or patches of foreign mold, it is contaminated: do not continue to use, do not consume, and dispose of the bag while closed.

Right of withdrawal Sealed goods for hygiene reasons: The right of withdrawal expires once the seal has been removed or the injection port has been opened (Section 312g (2) No. 3 of the German Civil Code (BGB)). Details can be found in Section 6 of the General Terms and Conditions.
